Description
Constantine I The Great (307-337 A.D.) is one of the most prominent Roman rulers as well as one of the most well-known characters in the history of Christianity for turning Christianity into and official religion of the Roman Empire, despite the fact that he himself was only baptized shortly before his death.
This is not a Jewish coin, however the Holy Land was a part of the Roman Empire by the time this coin was struck, so it used to be one of the most widely used coins in the area. The obverse of the coin depicts bust of Constantine the Great and inscription “Constantine the Great”, the reverse of the coin depicts two helmeted soldiers facing each other, reversed spears in outer hands and inner hands keeping shields resting on ground, and two standards between them. Coin is struck between 330 – 335 A.D., maximum diameter of the coin 17.3 mm, weight of the coin 2.5 g.
